I  nui  ke  aho

We practice native Hawaiian sailing aboard our waʻa kaulua (double hulled sailing canoe), Wanana Paoa. We use Wanana Paoa to teach a traditional navigator's mindset and strive to enrich our community's culture, place, and people.

***Program Update – Voyaging Preparation Program***

Our final session of the Voyaging Preparation Program, originally scheduled for May 23rd, will be postponed due to scheduling logistics. Our captains are currently sailing for the Moananuiākea voyage fulfilling kuleana that continues to guide and inspire our own journey.

We will reschedule and complete our final session once we have an available captain to safely guide us. Mahalo for your patience and support as we navigate this shift — a reminder that voyaging is a living practice, grounded in timing, readiness, and respect for the elements.

We look forward to closing this season together on the water soon. Stay tuned for updates!

I Nui Ke Aho is a non-profit organization based in Waialua on the North Shore of O`ahu. I Nui Ke Aho operates a traditional double-hulled Hawaiian sailing canoe built and maintained by our dedicated staff and volunteers, using mainly traditional techniques and materials. This canoe, Wanana Paoa, was built for the purpose of community building through indigenous education.

With Wanana Paoa, I Nui Ke Aho seeks to strengthen the North Shore community. We aim to do this by creating a traditional Hawaiian navigator’s mindset, and providing educational programs that teach collaboration, knowledge, and pono decision-making to our youth, `ohana and community.

Meet Our Board Members:

As an organization, we at I Nui Ke Aho are able to accomplish what we do because of our board members, funders, and dedicated volunteers.

Here we want to showcase our board members specifically, to give you a greater sense of who we are, and the faces that make up our crew.
